Welcoming Zachary Alexander Babb

Meet Zachary Alexander Babb! It’s hard to believe we’ve been parents for a whole month now – the time flies by so fast. We welcomed Zach into the world on January 22. He surprised the midwife and doctor with his stats – 8lbs 3oz and 21.5″ tall. We are thankful that we planned to deliver at a hospital since Melinda needed an emergency Cesarean section. Zachary is perfect and Melinda is healing well.

We feel very blessed to have so many friends and family help out. Both of our moms have stayed with us and have cooked, cleaned, and diapered for us. We want to thank our many friends who have kept us well fed- we are so grateful for your thoughtfulness. Also, a big shout out to those that helped us get prepared through clothes, gear and other goodies. Everyone’s support has really helped us ease into parenthood.

Though we definitely have had some challenging days, this first month has been joyful and peaceful. It’s amazing how we can so love someone who we’ve barely just met. The late night feedings and diaper sessions are so worth it to have the privilege of being in our little one’s life. It’s been fun getting to know Zach’s personality- he is totally a snuggler and while he can’t smile on purpose yet, that hasn’t stopped his papa from trying to encourage it. Some highlights so far are hearing him laugh in his sleep, holding him as he tries to burrow into you for snuggles, and watching his legs go into the air the first time he tried to lift his head during “tummy time.” (He looked like a little yogi going into a headstand!)

We’ve started a journal to Zach and welcome you to leave any comments below for him. We plan on presenting these special notes and memories to him when he is older and would love for him to hear from friends and family.
