It Has Begun

Money. Yuck.

We are now in the throes of fundraising for our move to Swaziland. I have always appreciated what money can do, but asking for it, even for the sake of ministry, is uncomfortable and sometimes even embarrassing. I’d love to just fly to Swaziland and start pitching in now and save the hassle and wait of the fundraising process. It doesn’t help that the two of us are introverts who have always strived to be self-sufficient.

However, we recently heard a great perspective from our AIM executive director, Seth Barnes, and it’s reinvigorated us to keep pushing forward. Seth talks about how support raising reminds us of our reliance on God and that people want to give to a good cause.

As we’ve seen the first donations roll in, we’re humbled that friends and family not only believe in what we are doing, but believe that the Lord can work through us. It has been so very encouraging to see the body of Christ rise up in Unity. We never thought that raising money could be exciting, but the truth is, seeing these acts of faith has us pumped!

We appreciate prayers during the fundraising process as we have a lot to raise- $4,500/month for the next two years and $15,000 for the start-up costs (airfare, car, etc). We are especially in need of monthly supporters. If you haven’t received a fundraising letter yet, you may just get one soon. We welcome questions whether or not you plan on donating and of course, your prayers are precious to us!

Thank you for your support not just for this mission, but also the encouragement you’ve fed our hearts as we start this adventure.

As always, grace and peace.
